Overview

Menu Planner 2 (“the App,” “we,” “our”) helps you organize recipes, pantry items, shopping lists, and meal plans. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information.

Menu Planner 2 uses Azure Active Directory B2C for user authentication and syncs your data to our backend stored in Microsoft Azure. The App is rated 4+ and is suitable for a general audience.

Information We Collect

1. Information You Provide

We collect and store information you enter or create, such as:

  • Recipes, ingredients, pantry items, and meal plans
  • Shopping lists, stores, and preferences
  • Images added to recipes or items
  • Notes, ratings, and other custom fields
  • OCR-scanned text from camera-based ingredient or direction scans
  • Optional user profile settings

Data is stored locally on your device and synced to Azure when you sign in.

2. Authentication Information

The App uses Azure AD B2C with built-in email authentication (no third-party identity providers). We may store:

  • Your Azure AD B2C account identifier
  • Your email address
  • Basic information needed to operate and sync your account

3. Automatically Collected Information

To ensure performance and reliability, we may collect:

  • Device type and iOS version
  • Crash logs (if enabled in system settings)
  • Non-identifying diagnostic and usage information

No advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking are used.

4. Server-Side Storage (Azure)

When signed in, your data is:

  • Encrypted during transmission
  • Stored in Azure SQL and Azure Blob Storage
  • Attached to your Azure AD B2C account to sync across devices

Authorized Menu Planner 2 developers may access server-stored data only as needed to:

  • Provide support
  • Diagnose technical issues
  • Maintain service reliability

We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or marketing partners.

5. Apple Intelligence (Optional)

If your device supports Apple Intelligence:

  • All processing follows Apple's private on-device or privacy-preserving systems
  • The App receives only the final generated output
  • The App does not send personal data to Apple

6. Camera and Photo Access

Menu Planner 2 may request access to:

  • Camera for OCR and barcode scanning
  • Photos for adding images to recipes or pantry items

Images or scanned content may sync to Azure if you are signed in.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Deliver the core features of the App
  • Sync and store your data securely
  • Allow account login via Azure AD B2C
  • Provide support and diagnose issues
  • Improve stability and performance

We never:

  • Sell personal information
  • Share data with advertising networks
  • Track users across other apps or websites

Data Security

We use security measures including:

  • Encrypted communication (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Access-controlled Azure environments
  • Secure authentication and authorization practices
  • Monitoring for system integrity

We work continuously to keep your data safe.

Data Retention and Deletion

Account and Data Deletion Inside the App

Menu Planner 2 includes a built-in “Delete Account” option. Using this option will:

  • Permanently delete your Azure AD B2C user account
  • Permanently delete all data stored in Azure that belongs to that account
  • Remove the account’s ability to sync data
  • Sign you out of the App immediately

This process cannot be undone.

Local Data

All data stored on your device is removed when you uninstall the App.

Children’s Privacy

Menu Planner 2 is rated 4+ and is suitable for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or attempt to identify young users.

Parents may use the in-app Delete Account option or contact us to request removal of account data.

Your Choices

You may:

  • Decline camera or photo permissions
  • Edit or delete any data you have entered
  • Delete your entire account and cloud data from within the App
  • Contact support to request assistance with removal

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Menu Planner 2 evolves. Updates will be posted within the App or on our website (if applicable).
